Still waiting. They said I'd hear by April 1. Today is March 31.
Trying not to complain, because learning my fate might be less enjoyable than waiting to learn my fate. But waiting is tough.

Today is a good day. I probably won't be truly happy for quite a while, but today is the closest I have been in a good 3 weeks. It's my birthday! My boyfriend is taking me out to The Melting Pot, one of my favorite restaurants. I'm up to 55 happy birthday greetings (according to facebook). The sun is shining, I got a 100% on a test, I have to work but today is payday! and music is cool. Life is not too shabby right now.
Make that 56 birthday greetings.

Audition was good!
My hotel, however, was a absolute nightmare. Fun fact: some hotels in Miami Beach double as nightclubs. Aaaand... my room was about 3 feet from the source of the music. Attempting to sleep in this hotel was like attempting to sleep in a nightclub restroom, no joke. It was that loud. LUCKILY I had a stock of industrial-strength earplugs, and man, I have never been more happy to have them. My audition wasn't until after 2 so I also had time to sleep in. But still. Noise level=unacceptable.
Additionally, there was sand in my bed and on the floor, no lights in the room (there was only a light in the bathroom), only half of a shower door, moquitoes flying around everywhere, and a refrigerator so stuffed with alcohol that I could not fit anything else inside. Oh, and they didn't have a parking lot so I had to valet park my car for $32/night. Wait, this was two stars??
At least the bed was very comfortable. They had that going for them.
New World Center is pretty cool. It's the only modern-looking building in the area (smack dab in the middle of tourist Miami Beach), and I dig it. Like I said, I came in prepared for my audition, and I was confident that I was going to do well. Only a few very minor mistakes, maybe one or two split notes, but all in all, more than I could hope for.
Now the waiting game. Dang it, I hate the waiting game :(

One day until the big audition. Driving to Miami tonight and staying overnight, and then audition at 2:20 tomorrow. Positive thoughts and prayers are appreciated! I've done the work, now it's just time to show them what I can do!
One day, one night, one moment, my dreams could be, tomorrow.

I am more happy to be in Florida than I have ever been before. My eyes are tired and my heart is heavy, but I am finally home. Praise the Lord.
Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky, The flying cloud, the frosty light: The year is dying in the night; Ring out, wild bells, and let him die. Ring out the old, ring in the new, Ring, happy bells, across the snow: The year is going, let him go; Ring out the false, ring in the true. Ring out the grief that saps the mind For those that here we see no more; Ring out the feud of rich and poor, Ring in redress to all mankind. Ring out a slowly dying cause, And ancient forms of party strife; Ring in the nobler modes of life, With sweeter manners, purer laws. Ring out the want, the care, the sin, The faithless coldness of the times; Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes But ring the fuller minstrel in. Ring out false pride in place and blood, The civic slander and the spite; Ring in the love of truth and right, Ring in the common love of good. Ring out old shapes of foul disease; Ring out the narrowing lust of gold; Ring out the thousand wars of old, Ring in the thousand years of peace. Ring in the valiant man and free, The larger heart, the kindlier hand; Ring out the darkness of the land, Ring in the Christ that is to be.

Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I had never left home, like so many of my friends still living in Titusville...
It's true that I've had amazing experiences here in Arizona. The land has a lot to offer. But life is very different when you are not surrounded on all sides by people who love you. When you have to forge your own friendships, start from scratch, knowing zero people in your new home.
I will always cherish my relationships with my friends from home. There is so much love among those people. It's a place where I can be myself and be accepted. Truly, there's no place like home.

Life is hard sometimes.
Years ago, at a low point in my life, a very wise and kind and human person looked into my eyes and told me,
"The only place to fall is into God's hands."
I remember the words of such an incredible woman today, and I can only have faith that in the end, somehow, some way, "all things work together for the good of those who love God."

Concert of soloists tonight. Very fun concert! One of the first concerto concerts I've played that I have actually enjoyed. Despite a broken string and a very big incorrect downbeat, things went very well.
I still ask my people, "Did you hear me?" after the concert. So childish, but I like to know :)
